Capricorn Horoscope for week of September 22, 2005
Verticle Oracle card Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Psychologist Rollo May spoke of how important it is not to be drowned in the grungy flow of everyday life. To stay sane, let alone be healthy, we need influences that captivate our imaginations and remind us how we're more than the thousands of details that demand our attention from minute to minute. That's why he recommended that we seek out inspiring symbols and myths. They take us out of and beyond ourselves, evoking a purifying release. I bring this to your attention, Capricorn, because it's a great time for you to go shopping for fresh symbols and myths. To stimulate your imagination, here's a motif to consider: "Open sesame," the magical formula that Ali Baba used to unseal the door to a cave full of treasure in Arabian Nights.

sleeping it off with a dave carter omen dream
i hit the pillow after a long day at work, a walk and doing my wash at midnight...
I didnt wake up through the night but as the alarm clock range, i woke to a dream where there were two men....one shorter and thinner and they were looking for the Dave Carter omen or a place where they were going and there was talk of the Dave Carter Omen
( there is lots of talk of dave carter omens and signs and this one creeped in my dream)
in my dream i tried to give them directions and finally told em to jump in my SUV and i would drive them there

3 dreams or 1 dream
last night, i tried to go to bed when i thought i was tired but i was aware that this was the first day that i had to get up at 6am on purpose. I am used to getting up around 8 and 6am comes early.
i went to sleep before the emmys were over and took two Calm's forte. i feel asleep and woke within 15 minutes and when i finally relaxed enough to sleep... i had three dreams
the first i remember being in a meeting about renovating the 6th floor conference room where i work. There was a discussion of 1 hour.. either the meeting was one hour or something was happening in 1 hour. I offered to show the meeting chair the plans that were laid by the prior committee and why there was a standstill.
the second dream had me sitting on a huge rock near a lake or stream.. I was talking to my new boss stacey and i reached over the from behind the rock, took out the plastic container that contained my salad. the sun was warming in and i wondered if it was warmed enough to eat. I could feel the sun on my skin in the dream..it was 78-82 degree sun, like last week.... fall but sunny enough to be warm
the third dream also had an hour in it... the alarm clock woke me from a deep deep sleep and i was not happy about the alarm

Beatles - Im Looking Through You Lyrics
I'm Looking Through You - The Beatles
I'm looking through you, where did you go <<< 1st verse
I thought I knew you, what did I know <<<
You don't look different, but you have changed <<< 1st chorus
I'm looking through you, you're not the same <<<
Your lips are moving, I cannot hear
Your voice is soothing, but the words aren't clear
You don't sound differnt, I've learned the game.
I'm looking through you, you're not the same
Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
<<< Refrain
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight <<<
You're thinking of me, the same old way
You were above me, but not today
The only difference is you're down there
I'm looking through you, any other way

3 weeks at home an overview
prior to my surgery, i did alot of the things that i expected that i couldnt do with my arm in a sling. I did the wash, bathroom, shopped and cooked. I took of my jewerly and toenail polish. it was very very hot so i went to the movies and i blended work with play. I did some last minute work email and caught up with my friend DAve and gave him my car on monday. I went to the post office and walked myself to the hospital.
Dave picked me up and monday night i went to sleep. Even though i didnt sleep long on tuesday, i took it easy and walked. I was sore. and tuesday night, i wanted painkillers. I must have gone out on tuesday but dont remember much.. I dont remember the LEVEE breaking but it did after Katrina and i was mostly out of it. wednesday, i got my prescription filled and went into manhattan, went to the green market and went to school. Thursday was a later walk to Park slope after i went to the Doctor and had the bandages removed.
Labor weekend, i stayed close because i was just plain tired.
the three weeks home, can be catagorized as just plain tired. I could not walk my standard 5 miles but more like 3. I went to Target one day during labor day weekend and had to go back to return something i bought TOO BIG..

I cleaned out newspapers that i hadnt read and still have to tackle the magazines.
teh second week i was home, the weather was magnificent so i tried to balance my time cleaning around and my time out in the sunshine. I was basically back home around 6-7.pm and did more around. I got tired and went to bed around 10 the first week and the second week, more like 11- or 12 am.. got to bed later, wake up later.
i was getting up in the middle of night and watched alot of late night TV. i know what is on headline news all night. I was getting up at night and not resting well.
sometimes my stomach was on the fritz. the anestesia wearing off hit me around labor day weekend and i couldnt manage going far or too long. i stayed close to home and tried to rest more

my dead dream
i woke up in the middle of the night and went back to sleep.
i dreamed i was at place where there was outdoors, like a state park with cottages. I took my place on a pew like bench and i then was escorted to a hospital bed. my attendant was a youngish man in his 30s who attended to me and then left. I was there with a clipboard of paperwork and Patty Catusi (who was my best friend at age 12-13)
in the dream, i was terminally ill and i was planning for my own death. I filled in the paperwork and took off my rings and earrings. I noted those were the earrings that i wear everyday (gold Hoops) i remember the ring being but in a small box and i asked for them to be given to my neices. I kept filling out the paperwork and i wanted my mother .she appeared and i informed her that i wanted to be dressed in black pants and in a new Top that was maroonish and buttoned with cloth buttons. she didnt need to put a white teeshirt under this jacket.
i then got the part of the application that listed my arrangement for my funeral and i realized that i had not planned my funeral. I needed to do the work in planning and what sort of funeral. Being terminally ill, in the dream, but not sick, i decided that i can delay my death til i get sick and when i became sicker and sicker, i can always call for my own euthenasia.. I decided that i wanted to postpone being put to death.
i didnt really fear it but had some slight anxiety.
i woke up and wanted to get back to the dream.
it was a serene place with other people who were doing the same thing all around me. I remember being moved on the gurney from one room to another as i moved through the process.
______________
i think that the dream is a culmination of the recent surgery and process of healing and operation that i have been through.

Capricorn Horoscope for week of September 15, 2005
Capricorn Horoscope for week of September 15, 2005
Verticle Oracle card Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
It's a ripe moment for you to explore the mysteries of the void. I'm not being glib. You'd really benefit from becoming better friends with emptiness. Your well-being would rise a few levels if you expanded your appreciation for the value of doing nothing and thinking nothing. Do you dare live without your precious opinions and ambitions for a few days? Are you brave enough to gaze into the heart of the great unknown and be free of the need to explain it, change it, or judge it?

I got up at six and almost called in sick on a sick day..its would have been a double sick day.. so i went to Queens. on my drive there, i started to think about that my professional expertise is Crisis work, Trauma work or working with people who experience trauma and working with children
with all these Kids in the gulf coast who cant find their parents because they cant say their name or those kids who have seen death and all those kids who need help.. or all those families in crisis, what the hell am doing managing a department that doesnt want to be managed in a agency that doesnt appreciate my skills or working for an executive director who looks at me with disgust...
Go south...
I went to see Light on the Piazza tonight after day...
as the excellent musical was over, a man who was sitting behind me with his wife and kid, leaned over and said to me..."love is out there somewhere"
the play was about finding your own true love, dying love, all sorts of behaviors we accept from our partner in the name of true love...

Pictures please, sir
i watched the president on CSPAN last night. He talked to a white woman who had a home and went to a public TENT for food. she had her three year old, doodle, on her hip. Doodle played with the presidents buttons. he had little interaction with the kid. Finally, he picked him up and called for a photo oppportunity. he handed doodle back to his mom and the PRESIDENT turned away, rolled his eyes and gave her a look of distain and disgust
he then took photos with a group of army workers and mexican police who he spoke to like they were illerate in english and in spanish.. he was really good at taking photos with the workers and held off the press so he could locate more workers to take pictures with....

9-11 again
since thursday, my TV has been alternating documentaries on 9-11 and hurricane related events... there have been some interesting looks at the world trade center events. It amazes me HOW much i forgot or how many thing about that time that are slippin from my memory. these shows are bringing back the images and sounds and sights from that time 4 years ago.
i remember being home that day, calling elynor, watching TV, being pulled from teh TV to go to work on 9-12 and visiting fire department stations and Union Square on Rosh Hashanah to pay my respects. I remember when the number of dead didnt quite meet the expectations and the clean up . I remember the smoldering of the site as i went over the verrazano bridge and 12 hours to get back to NY from Virginia. I remember the aborted landscape which still hasnt been repaired. I remember the pictures of people daily in the paper, the stories that were in streets, in my ears, and continue to be told. i remember the feelings, the feelings of 9-11 past, candle light and concert events, fundraisers and ALL THOSE AMERICAN FLAGS...
Sounds like i should break out the Paxil or zoloft... i tried shopping and a movie

Music From the Inside Out
Directed by Daniel Anker
Emerging, opens September 9, Cinema Village
What is music? Various members of the Philadelphia Orchestra respond with stutters and groans, finally admitting that it can only be felt, not verbalized. From that humble start, Music From the Inside Out follows the group during an international tour, giving an anecdotal sketch of life as a classical musician. Performance is elided in favor of the personal, as the subjects detail their escape into the freedoms of Latin jazz and bluegrass and ponder melody's inherence in memory. The film is a revealing portrait of painfully withdrawn artists navigating the tug between the divine harmony of an orchestral synthesis and the sweaty glow of individual experimentation. The ovation they give a Cologne street accordionist's version of The Four Seasons has them leaning toward the latter.
THEN a trip to the green market and ..
so i called my hairdresser and told her i needed to "get cleaned UP". she had two slots...Sunday at 10 or sunday at 230...well 10 would keep me out of Lower Manhattan (where i had no business anyway) and 230 would keep me glued to the TV watching the ceremony from Lower Manhattan...so i chose 10...
i got in my car as the bells of the churches were ringing to commemorate the events of 4 years ago.. NPR didnt not have the siblings reading names this morning, neither did WFUV.. but i found it on some local station..
i listened to the accents that represented 83 counties.. I recognized the NYC accents and could distinguish.. brooklyn from Queens from Long Island ( if you hang around here you would too) and suddently a massachusetts accent, british, irish..west indian, africian, south asian.... i listen to them all..
i see lots of firetrucks moving today or maybe i am more aware of them today... are there always lines to get in the cemertaries on sundays... i dont know.. i am not on those roads on sundays, they are the roads i take M-F on my way to and from work. More people in car crying. i am thinking.. these are 9-11 visitors at the cemetaries or maybe i am reading too much into their visits..
i return to my car, a new blonde again, and the names are still being read...left the car at "D" with all the moments of silence conducted and back in at "W"...the names continue, the messages to heaven continue..
a walk to the park, nature is healing, i thought.. I actually listened to the Soundtrack to NO DIRECTION HOME..
i am recommending this next in the DYLAN bootleg series.. this compilation of early dylan work is BRILLIANT..
Desporation or desolation row.. rang in my ears.. Then i just put Between here and gone, the title track on repeat. it made me feel better and stopped to get a pedicure..
i really shouldnt use the CHINESE pedicure/manicure places. something tells me that they offer those pedicures so cheap because they use chinese women who are hostages. they are brought over to the US and have to earn money to pay back the village at compounded interest so they are never really free from the person who brings them over. Its kinda like credit card debt. YOu dont get free from interest while trying to pay the principle.
these women seem shy or unsettled when you ask them about THEM. i watch they way they are treated by customers, like a comodity not a person. like they are a service not blood and heart and tears and fears. i try to humanize them, solicit their opinion, ask their name, have a conversation but i think its only patronizing. they are uncomfortable and unsettled.... so i just tip well..
i have steamed up the farm stand corn that is as sweet and sliced the NJ tomatoes, tossed em with basil from the green market and cheese and olive oil
so i am cleaned up my still havent found some time for the grief...
i caught the CNN special on 9-11 and it made me feel better.. the stories were uplifting and interesting.. Mary Chapin looked great and Grand Central tugged at my heart as it did the first time that i heard it in Beverly.
I waited that night, uncharacteristically of me, at the bus with lisa et al to tell MCC how she nailed that song.
4 years later... i still think she nailed the feelings.. of the events in her song...( iron worker may not have agreed, he was modest)
the moon is at 1/2 mast tonight as are the flags of NYC...and the tribute towers are blazing clearer than any night this week.. they can be seen from all around the city.... another 9-11 is almost over..
i listen to steve earle interview Dar williams and play her choice songs. She plays the Bryds- Bells of Rhymey (pete seeger) Benidictus (paul simon) Simon and Garfunkel,
Suzanne Vega (blood makes noise), Boy in the Bubble ( paul Simon) Patriot Games by Judy Collins and Dar Williams's own EMPIRE
i eat and got to bed, i cant unwind, i am hot,i put on the fan, i am restless, i am nervous, i cant settle in... i take two Calms forte, i get up to put the air conditioner on.. i try to watch TV.. i fall sleep..

Crash on the levee Bob Dylan
Crash on the levee, mama,
Water's gonna overflow,
Swamp's gonna rise,
No boat's gonna row.
Now, you can train on down
To Williams Point,
You can bust your feet,
You can rock this joint.
But oh mama, ain't you gonna miss your best friend now?
You're gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.
Now, don't you try an' move me,
You're just gonna lose.
There's a crash on the levee
And, mama, you've been refused.
Well, it's sugar for sugar
And salt for salt,
If you go down in the flood,
It's gonna be your own fault.
Oh mama, ain't you gonna miss your best friend now?
You're gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.
Well, that high tide's risin',
Mama, don't you let me down.
Pack up your suitcase,
Mama, don't you make a sound.
Now, it's king for king,
Queen for queen,
It's gonna be the meanest flood
That anybody's seen.
Oh mama, ain't you gonna miss your best friend now?
Yes, you're gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.

take me to the mardi gras Paul Simon
Words & music By Paul Simon
C'mon take me to the Mardi Gras
Where the people sing and play
Where the dancing is elite
And there's music in the street
Both night and day
Hurry take me to the Mardi Gras
In the city of my dreams
You can legalize your lows
You can wear your summer clothes
In the New Orleans
And I will lay my burden down
Rest my head upon that shore
And when I wear that starry crown
I won't be wanting anymore
Take your burdens to the Mardi Gras
Let the music wash your soul
You can mingle in the street
You can jingle to the beat of the jelly roll
Tumba, tumba, tumba, Mardi Gras
Tumba, tumba, tumba, day
Mm------------
C'mon take me to the Mardi Gras
Where the people sing and play
Where the dancing is elite
And there's music in the street
