No Pants in the Subway today

Improv Everywhere's 8th Annual No Pants! Subway Ride This Saturday

This Saturday marks New York City-based Improv Everywhere's 8th Annual No Pants! Subway Ride - part prank, part social experiment where participants gather to ride the subway, sans pants, with straight faces. People from around the globe have been encouraged to organize their own pants-free public transportation ride and lucky for us, it's on. The fun starts at the Foley Square at 3pm this Saturday at High Noon.

THE RULES: "You can wear socks, shoes, boots, coats, gloves, shirts and hats - just no pants. (No thongs or G strings cause we want to surprise and not offend.) You pretend like you don't know any of the other pants-less riders. You should act like it's perfectly normal to have been waiting for the subway without your pants! Dress as you wish but try to keep in mind that the goal is to act as if you forgot your pants."

Note: The New York City No Pants! Subway Ride rules state not to bring cameras, as they will have photographers on site. We assume this is true for Chicago.

The first No Pants ride took place in New York City in 2002 with seven participants. Last year, it had 900 participants in New York, and another 1,000 or so in nine additional cities around the world, including Chicago. This year, No Pants rides are scheduled in several U.S. cities including L.A., Portland, Denver, Boston and internationally in Sydney, Vienna, Lisbon, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Adelaide. See you there, with our serious underpants faces on.
