January 1st

what better day to start a blog than the first day of January.. New Years Day always starts the year with much anticipation and the idea that the following year will being all sorts of things, Will they be wonderful or painful ... not knowing what the year will bring.
I couldnt not have imagined some of the wild and wonderful and exciting and unexpected things that i encountered last year.
i am grateful for the year behind me and all of the good things that came into my life, all the fun and friends and good choices i made.
it was hard at times.. work wasnt always easy and i wasnt sure if id be working this time this year but i am and i am grateful.
2004 was a good personal year but 2004 was disappointing on another level. the cold of the winter of 2004 finally broke in May and the rains of summer, raining out the major festivals. I wasnt going anyway and then the election of 2004. I am sure as the year progresses, i will continue those themes.
2004 i found the apprentice and food network and continue to trust Aaron Brown who is the only newsman who starts every broadcast with Iraq.
2004 brought select concerts... okay 8 Mary Chapin Carpenter shows on the Between Here and Gone tour and almost all dar williams shows except two or three.. I got to go to NH, Vermont,
Virginia, Maryland, Pa, Massachusetts, shows in NJ and NY... i sure had fun... all that driving driving driving and seeing friends along the way... i went to some new places .. Annapolis MD twice and the eastern shore of MD. i went off the beaten path a few times to pick lilacs and found the flying red horse. I went to Charlottesville and went off the path to see stables and farms and the countryside. I went off to see Imax a few times while on the road and lots of shopping and sightseeing. Riding thru MD, the roadside stands for melons and cantaloupes which served as breakfast.
It was a good year. A trip to Oregon and one to florida to celebrate a friends bday...

to start 2004... i reluctantly....but i went shopping today and in each store, the price tags and sales tags were different. A coat at more than 60% off.. i got it at the lower rate, a gift bought at a lower rate than i expected. One sweater marked at 19.99 and the rest at 29.99 and i got it for 19.99 without a word passed. A sale on Stretch shirts at Target... if this was an omen for the year ahead.

Resolutions.. maybe... to reassess and tweak how i live my life. I am going to give as much to myself as i do for others.

I will lose those 10 lbs finally and keep exercising 5x a week... it wouldnt be me without this one..
and
make the changes that i have put into motion in 2004...

simple... simple.. and simple...

now let see what the year will hold or unfold... blessed for sure.. blessed i am
